Keep flowering Azalea, Cyclamen and Hyacinths in cool conditions 50-59 deg. F.

Clean bird baths and feeders well and regularly with garden disinfectant.

Place a floating ball in your pond to reduce the chance of the whole surface freezing over.

Prune Acer and Betula before mid December to avoid bleeding from cuts.

Move plants such as Phalaenopsis (Moth Orchids) to a east or west facing window sill to maximise light.

Tidy and deadhead winter bedding containers regularly.

Plan ahead and order your seeds for next year.

Carry out routine or renovation pruning of climbing roses between now and February.

Prune freestanding apple and pear trees, currants and gooseberries. Apply winter wash.

Consider building a raised bed for sowing early crops of peas, broad beans, carrots, beetroot and salads from late February. Use boards to edge a bed 3ft deep and 4ft wide. Fill the bed with recycled green waste.
